Business Financing And Funding Preparation

How To Prepare For Business Financing

Documents and questions before a financing conversation. This firm does not lend, and a veteran status is not an approval.

A Loan Is Not A Grant

Most “veteran business grant” pages on the open web are not a federal entitlement. A grant that exists will be described by the agency that funds it, with rules and a deadline. A loan, including an SBA-guaranteed loan, is still a loan. Someone has to repay it. This practice does not make loans and does not submit applications for you.

What To Have On Paper

Lenders differ, so do not treat this as an application checklist from a bank. Owners are usually asked to explain the business, show how money will be used, and show that the books exist. If the books are a shoebox, fix that with a bookkeeper before you shop for a program.

Personal credit, a personal guarantee, and collateral are common topics. Whether they apply to you is the lender’s question, not a sentence this site can answer.

Use Of Funds

Write what the money would buy: a vehicle, equipment, inventory, or working cash for a named gap. “Growth” is not a use of funds. Tie the number to a quote or a monthly cost you can show.

Where To Read Current Programs

SBA’s loans page is the public index of SBA loan programs. Program names, caps, and fees change. Do not rely on a blog’s dollar figure. Start at SBA.gov, then talk with a lender or a counselor who is allowed to discuss that product. Veteran Business Partners is not that counselor.
